PALEO ZONE - New Tools

Wolfpack:

Nutrition is always on my mind and hopefully yours as well.  This morning we got into a discussion regarding what to eat, when to eat it and how much is enough.  The short answer is, you need to do what works for you.  The long answer answer is this; Each athlete needs a way of providing his/herself  nutrition involving science, in other words proper application based on idividual needs.  However, we don't want to lose the majority in this application.  Therefore, we need a nutritional method/application to be easy so that we can implement it into our daily lives.  So let's break this thing down to even more digestable pieces (pardon the pun) in hopes to achieving this goal.

I am a big Paleo nutrition fan.  I would like all of you to be as well, only for the sole purpose that it provides an excellent guide for anyone to make proper food choices.  On the other hand, Zone is also a great way to manage your body composition and serves as a great guide for "good" food choices.  Once again, Zone relies on 30% protein, 30% fat and 40% carbohydrate or 30/30/40.  Zone is also very focused on lower glycemic foods as compared to paleo which relies on Whole Foods/Un-Processed foods.  I personally stick to Paleo/Zone, which is Paleo foods only - in Zone portions.

Full Circle: Below is an EASY application for any lifestyle.  Quantities, Food Choices, it's all in there.  Simply find out your BLOCK requirement on www.zonediet.com .  If you are going total Paleo with Zone portions, then stick to the "PALEO FOODS tab".  If you are going Zone only, then choose the "Fat Blocks" and/or "Carbs& Protein tab" and plug in your appropriate Block #.   You'll get an accurate conversion of any food and the appropriate portion.   Notice: Zone food choices far outnumber that of the Paleo menu.

First timers, this is an excellent way to determine what foods to eat as well as what your portions should look like in accordance to your body type.  Veterans, this is a great time to revisit fundamentals as portions evolve over time without standards in place.....reset/calibrate standards regularly.

To be good at something, you must make it a lifestyle. Special thanks to New Albany CrossFit for this wonderful tool.

Enjoy the weekend!

Stay strong!
