ENJOY THE VIDEO
Bobby McFerrin hacks your brain with music | Video on TED.como

I hope you enjoyed the video.  I already know that you're wondering whether or not I've tripped and hit my head thereby forcing me to re-publish some random video.  ...or perhaps you all wish that soon, I WILL hit my head never to blurt out another command in the gym....no matter...the video is important to what we do, and here's why.

Everything that we do in the gym needs to be trained and trained properly.  It starts with TECHNIQUE.  From Technique we move to STABILITY.  From Stability we move onto ENDURANCE. It is at this point that we can start executing on POWER.  And once Power is introduced to the equation, STRENGTH takes over and the load increases simply by necessity.  Similar to what you've just witnessed in the video,  there are both simple and complex neurological changes that take place in our body over time.  The same goes for core to extremity power generation. Once you wrap your mind around it, your body follows and it's always there.  It still however always needs to be trained, just like a good blade needs to be sharpened.  Neurological patterns are utilized for instants when firing the hips for a Kettlebell Swing or hip drive during a C2 Row.  As you know, POWER comes from the core and if performed with the right intensity and technique, it will generate the momentum needed to move the load in it's intended direction.

The crowd in the video learned Bobby's patterns very quickly and assigned meaning to them.  By applying pre-existing skill, in this case the human voice,  and learning proper sequence, the crowd was able to work out a pretty good tune in short order.  As an athlete, the application of  learned skills utilized in  proper sequence is the key to success.  Therefore, for our purpose as athletes, knowledge IS power. And that is why the video is important.

Stay Strong!
-Johnny
