TUESDAY Whiteboard

How important is mobility?
Go overhead and you'll find out how critical hips and shoulders as well as thoracic spine mobility are to overhead squat success.  Lack of mobile shoulder sends you forward of your mid-line.  Lack of a mobile thoracic spine limits your ability to hold stabile loads overhead.  Finally, a lack of mobile hips sets you forward from the beginning of the squat and out in front of your midline - the result?  A failed lift.  How do we work on it?  Do what we have been doing, with more focus on handling overhead loads.  All of you have the capability to perform this movement.  If you were lacking on any of the skills needed for this, I would tell you otherwise and scale you.  If you have the movement, GO DEEPER.  If you need to scale load, DO IT.  If you're uncomfortable with the movement, ASK ME and we will work on it TOGETHER.   Great efforts today on the Overhead work.  It's easy to get ahead of ourselves with where to start and where to end up in a 5 set movement.  Just stay focused and stay within your known boundaries.  Once you get comfortable with the movement, then you can push limits in either rep scheme or load.

Whiteboard results from today's programming;
